This program being the main flagship program, uses the power of football in the fight against HIV/AIDS through a football themed curriculum which contains a series of interactive activities that allow youth to explore issues related to HIV/AIDS and gain necessary skills to lead healthy lives.
These skills include: Critical thinking, communication, self-esteem and decision making among others.
The program targets both infected and affected youth aged 11-19 year
and it requires active participation and creates a safe, team-based environment in which participants can comfortably share their beliefs, feelings, and ideas about HIV/AIDS.
This intervention is conducted by VAP’s training staff, a group of local football stars with credibility and role model status within the community.Programs are conducted in various schools within the slums of Nairobi.Participants who graduate from the program are empowered to conduct peer educational activities within their communities reaching thousands more through formal and informal education sessions.
