This program uses the advantages of the game of football as a tool to address
co-relationship of TB and HIV/AIDS with TB being the main focus through a football themed guide dubbed Stop TB.
Stop TB is a series of interactive activities that allow youth to explore issues related toTB and gain necessary skills to lead healthy lives.
These skills include: –
Critical thinking, communication, self-esteem and decision making among others.
The program targets both boys and girls aged 10-19 years and it requires active participation and creates a safe, team-based environment in which participants can comfortably share their beliefs, feelings, and ideas about TB. This intervention is conducted by VAP’s training staff, a group of local football stars with credibility and role mode status within the community and it has been operating in various schools and community centres impacting the lives of 105 participants who have so far graduated
from the program and have been empowered to conduct peer education activities within their community,
